Jami Gong is regarded as the Godfather of Hong Kong Standup Comedy. He is a Chinese American who was born and raised in New York City's Chinatown. He has performed all over the USA and has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
After two years of research and nine trips to Hong Kong from 2005-06, he took the leap of faith. He moved to HK to open The TakeOut Comedy Club HK in 2007, the first full-time Comedy Club in Asia. He created a whole new comedy market from scratch and continued to bring more laughers here in HK.
Jami conducts Standup Comedy workshops, Improv workshops and does corporate training. He also founded The Hong Kong International Comedy Festival, Asia's biggest and longest-running annual comedy festival, and competitions since 2007, featuring over 50 international comedians in 23 shows in 32 days! The Straits Times 2016 called it "one of Asia's largest comedy festivals."
Jami has taught over 1,000 students and nurtured many local talents over the past 17 years in his Study-up Comedy Class and still counting.
